For one week, physical education left the sports court and took over the whole school. Classes were split into teams with their own colours, corridors filled with cheering posters and every day brought a different event: dodgeball, relay races, tug of war and problem-solving challenges.

The format was designed so that everyone could take part. Each team mixed ages, and older students were tasked with supporting the younger ones — a rule that ended up being many students’ favourite part.

Far beyond the scoreboard

Teachers noticed something the scoreboard does not show: shy children taking on leadership roles, teams agreeing on strategies and learning to handle defeat without giving up the next day.

After each event, teams sat in a circle to talk about what worked and what could be better. Sportsmanship became part of the lesson.

At the closing ceremony, awards recognised not only the winning teams but also the liveliest cheering squad and the team that best welcomed its youngest members.
